Emulation: The Awesome Neglected Games of The Past
Do you recall the first generation of games from Nintendo? Back in the days when Mario was still just a strange little plumber trying to save a princess, video games were expensive. When they were first released, a Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) game would cost you as much as $40. Remember that this was at a time when minimum wage was only $4.25 (winding up at a whopping $5.15). Super nintendo games were a huge luxury. Playing with family and pals was an entertaining, novel style of bonding experience (although it was occasionally ruined by overly serious competition). When Super Game Boy came out, permitting you to play your tiny game boy games on the TV with the Super Nintendo, you had a fresh level of fun (and price) added to your entertainment.
Should you have fond memories of gunning down enemies in Star Fox, beating your siblings in Doctor Mario, or playing just one level of Super Mario World countless times until you finally beat it, it could be time to whip out the old SNES. If you're anything like me, though, your SNES is long gone to a family with little kids, or just plain dead and useless. Thankfully (using a pretty simple Winrar download), you can quickly search online to locate an emulator, such as ZSNES. With this emulator, you'll be able to easily run the neat SNES games of your youth for free. There are also a number of games, often called ROMS, which weren't made available in the United States at all! Needless to say, most them were not translated either, so you may need to brush up on your Japanese. You can uncover a huge number of basic puzzle games, and several (still updating!) fan sites dedicated to developing new ROMS for play on the SNES emulators. From original RPGs to freaky new homages to classic characters, there is a huge supply of fan designed games to give a go. Of course, there is a lot more than just Super Nintendo emulators available. There are also already available emulators for the original Nintendo, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, and several other systems.
You may assume it's far too difficult, but it really isn't! The files are, of course, very old, so they take barely any memory in comparison to current games. Download Winrar or similar software to make the file unpacking process easy. Do some research on the various emulators to figure out the best one for you. Many emulators are able to instantly save your game with a "save state", freezing your progress in place as if you had never turned off the game. Emulators sometimes also offer a built in Game Genie and Action Replay – look up your game on either website to learn cheat codes to type in and use. Turn off the cheats or erase them when you are done using them, or save them to be loaded for later use.
You can get the Winrar download free of charge, naturally, on their main page! Winrar can simply and effortlessly unzip the file compression on whatever emulators and ROMS you decided to download. Old and new fun is yours, enjoy your gaming!

What all do i need to play nes roms on my DS Lite?
I plan to mainly play nes and snes games, but plan on getting into a lot of other homebrew programs as well. I've googled it a lot but still am undecided.
