Should I play Crisis Core without knowing much about Final Fantasy Vii?
My boyfriend was playing Final Fantasy Crisis Core when we went to the beach, and I watched him play it and saw a little less than half of the game. I don't want any spoilers, but do you think I could understand the game without playing Final Fantasy Vii first? Isn't Crisis Core a sort of prequel game anyway? Because I know the last scene of CC is the opening scene to FF7.
Sorry for such a long question.

Crisis core is definately a prequel. I would suggest playing it as a standalone to ff7. Order does not matter truly. If anything it may help you understand the events of ff7 that were almost cryptic to gamers at first.
