I got a bunch of games I wanted to install on this computer, but it turns out that this computer doesn't have a DVD-ROM Drive! Just a CD-ROM drive with the capability to burn CD-ROMs...
I have a very old computer tower with Windows '98 that has a DVD-ROM drive... Would I be able to take that drive out and put it into this computer, or would it not work?
these other answers are partially correct.
yes, the old dvd drive will work with your xp computer (provided it has a spare IDE connector).
but you need to check that the jumper setting on the dvd drive matches the existing cd drive.
the jumper is at the rear of the unit, near the IDE connector. there are three possible settings - master, slave and cable select (usually labelled CS).
before you fit the dvd drive, check that it has the same jumper setting as the cd drive, or the xp system won't detect it.
